Part-time Mentoring Position – Education Programmes
We are seeking professionals who are keen to work with the Education Division in mentoring our tutors to equip them with the knowledge and skills that they can use during their teaching and learning sessions.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate mentoring sessions for tutors in Education Division’s STEP / Teach / Guide programmes who have not been trained at the National Institute of Education (NIE).
- Mentors may also be deployed for conducting lesson observations for Tutors who have received training at NIE and are teaching English, Mathematics and/or Science in the STEP, Teach and Guide programmes
- Provide guidance to tutors in creating a conducive environment for teaching and learning
- Share effective intervention strategies that support teaching and learning, and ensure the delivery of quality content to students
- Introduce evidence-based instructional practices
- Carry out recommended assessment of tutors
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on instructional practices and classroom management
- Recommend suitable development opportunities or strategies such as sharing/training sessions
- Develop and conduct relevant sharing/training sessions as required
Requirements
- Applicants must be Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Retired or Current HOD / Master Teacher / Senior Teacher / Subject Head of an academic department preferred
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including building and sustaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at various levels
- Experienced in tutor and student related matters
- Counselling and training in pastoral care is an added advantage
- Available for face to face or online sessions on weekday afternoons / evenings and/or Saturday mornings
Qualification & Certification:
- Diploma in Education (NTU-NIE)
Other Information
- A yearly contract is provided. Renewal is subject to the Education Division’s discretion
